I created MedMaths to make medical calculations quicker to use, easier to understand and more accessible to the nurses, students and other health learners who rely on them.
My role covers the clinical, educational and practical direction of the project. I research authoritative sources, check formulas and worked examples, review nursing and safety language, design lesson sequences and approve current content before publication.
My nursing background
I began my nursing career as an Enrolled Nurse before qualifying as a Registered Nurse.
My experience has included oncology and haematology and a broad range of medical and surgical nursing. I have also completed Transition to Specialty Practice — Intensive Care and clinical supervision training.
I do not want MedMaths to rely on an impressive-sounding biography. The value should be visible in the quality of its calculations, explanations, sources, limitations and learning design.
Why I built MedMaths
The need became clear during my own nursing education, throughout everyday nursing work and while supporting students and newer nurses.
The fastest calculator was not always the clearest, and the best explanation was not always available when someone needed it. I wanted one resource that respected both needs: sometimes a nurse needs an answer immediately, and sometimes a learner needs the calculation slowed down and explained one step at a time.

What I do at MedMaths
This is currently a founder-led review process. MedMaths does not claim that content has been independently reviewed unless a named qualified reviewer has genuinely completed and documented that review.
- Select and research calculation and lesson topics.
- Review authoritative formula, clinical and educational sources.
- Check calculation logic, units, rearrangements and worked examples.
- Review wording for clarity, nursing relevance and safety boundaries.
- Design teaching sequences, mastery questions and learner flow.
- Test calculator and lesson behaviour across desktop and mobile devices.
- Approve current clinical and educational content before publication.
- Maintain the links between calculators, Guides, lessons and quizzes.
My approach to clear medical maths
A good calculator should do more than produce a number. It should make the inputs, units, formula and limitations understandable without slowing down the person who needs the answer.
