Learning outcomes

What you will learn

  • calculate the required liquid volume in mL
  • read the direction of the illustrative training syringe scale
  • work out what the small scale marks represent
  • read the training volume at the front edge of the stopper
  • recognise when a training syringe is below or above the calculated target
  • recognise when an exact calculated answer cannot be shown on the displayed training marks
  • compare different labelled syringe capacities and graduation intervals instead of assuming every scale is the same
  • recognise that oral, enteral, parenteral and insulin syringes are different device systems and are not automatically interchangeable
  • keep training maths separate from real-world device, route and medicine-specific instructions

Clinical connection

Why this matters

A correct calculation and a correct measurement are two different checks. This lesson keeps them separate so you can see whether the syringe matches the volume you calculated.

Lesson plan

How the lesson works

  1. 1

    Learn

Short teaching slides explain one idea at a time with plain-language examples.

  2. 2

    Practise

Answer calculation or scenario questions and receive immediate feedback.

  3. 3
