Learning outcomes
What you will learn
- identify NEED from the current authorised order or target
- identify HAVE from the verified current product or preparation
- name FIND as the exact quantity and unit the question asks for
- check MATCH between ordered and available dose units before arithmetic
- recognise when a multi-stage problem needs a STEP first
- separate arithmetic inputs for this step from clinical and order information that may still require checking
Clinical connection
Why this matters
A dosage calculation word problem can contain several numbers and several kinds of clinical information. Giving each arithmetic value a job helps prevent a current order, product strength, target unit or conversion requirement from being mixed with an unrelated number.
