Identify it
Foundation
Recognise the lesson’s key idea, the values that belong in the calculation and the unit the answer needs.
These are fictional practice intravenous (IV) gravity-drip arithmetic scenarios. Use the gtt/mL drop factor stated for the current IV tubing / administration set; never infer or guess a missing factor. Keep time in minutes for gtt/min and round only the final rate when a whole-drop answer is requested. The calculation produces an initial gravity target, not proof of delivered flow or permission to change the administration method. Observe and reassess gravity flow according to the clinical context, product/device instructions and local policy. If the current volume, time or tubing factor is missing or conflicting, stop and clarify before calculating.
Identify it
Recognise the lesson’s key idea, the values that belong in the calculation and the unit the answer needs.
Calculate it
Use clearly stated orders and supplied information to complete straightforward calculations.
Interpret it
Handle frequency, totals, conversions, order changes and realistic but relevant detail.
Reason through it
Reason through dense ward stories, changed orders, competing numbers and multi-part calculation chains.
