Identify it
Foundation
Recognise the lesson’s key idea, the values that belong in the calculation and the unit the answer needs.
These are fictional practice intravenous (IV) medication-over-time arithmetic scenarios. Use the supplied concentration and a verified or calculated infused volume for one stated interval to calculate a medication amount in mg. If volume is inferred from mL/hr × time, the rate and uninterrupted elapsed time must describe the same interval. The result is a calculated/expected amount from the supplied values; it does not independently verify actual pump performance, line delivery or exact patient exposure. The numbers are calculation practice, not medicine-specific prescribing, preparation or administration instructions. A correct answer does not authorise administration or verify device programming. If concentration, rate, infused volume, elapsed time or preparation information is missing or conflicting, stop and clarify rather than inventing a value.
Identify it
Recognise the lesson’s key idea, the values that belong in the calculation and the unit the answer needs.
Calculate it
Use clearly stated orders and supplied information to complete straightforward calculations.
Interpret it
Handle frequency, totals, conversions, order changes and realistic but relevant detail.
Reason through it
Reason through dense ward stories, changed orders, competing numbers and multi-part calculation chains.
