Adrian Spitzer, MD (1927–2021), was a paediatric nephrologist and a past president of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology. Originally from Bucharest, he became a major contributor to developmental nephrology and worked at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore. With Chester M. Edelmann Jr., he co-authored the 1969 review “The maturing kidney,” and his later career continued to focus on how renal physiology changes during growth and development.

Edelmann Jr., MD (1930–2013), was a leading figure in paediatric nephrology and served at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he became Senior Associate Dean and a distinguished professor of pediatrics.
