Learning outcomes
What you will learn
- explain BSA and the unit m² in plain language
- read mg/m² as milligrams for each square metre and keep /dose, /day and schedule wording separate
- calculate total mg from mg/m² × m²
- use the verified current BSA or current height/weight and the required BSA method
- calculate BSA from a supplied formula when the exercise asks for it
- use full precision as a MedMaths exercise convention while recognising that clinical rounding follows the active protocol, product information, approved system or local policy
- distinguish a source-specified BSA cap from a final medication-dose maximum
- avoid inventing a BSA cap, alternate weight method or dose reduction because a body-size result looks large
- separate a calculated BSA-based amount from clinical authorisation to administer
Clinical connection
Why this matters
BSA and mg/m² look similar because both contain m², but they are different things. Keeping them separate prevents a common setup error.
