Identify it
Foundation
Recognise the lesson’s key idea, the values that belong in the calculation and the unit the answer needs.
Pure arithmetic questions use fictional medication labels and constructed practice values. Keep the current order, current verified dosing weight, current product/preparation and matching reference in the same current calculation state, keep /dose and /day separate, match single-dose and daily limits to the correct time basis, and stop if required source data are missing or conflicting. Clinical teaching points about metric weight, approved emergency estimation, larger-child/adult limits, obesity, oral-liquid measurement and enteral administration come from current authoritative sources. The maths does not choose a medicine, dosing-weight method, treatment dose, range, maximum, preparation, device or administration plan.
Identify it
Recognise the lesson’s key idea, the values that belong in the calculation and the unit the answer needs.
Calculate it
Use clearly stated orders and supplied information to complete straightforward calculations.
Interpret it
Handle frequency, totals, conversions, order changes and realistic but relevant detail.
Reason through it
Reason through dense ward stories, changed orders, competing numbers and multi-part calculation chains.
