Delafield Du Bois, B.S., was a co-author of the 1916 Clinical Calorimetry paper that produced one of the earliest enduring height-and-weight equations for estimating human body surface area. The work was carried out through the Russell Sage Institute of Pathology in affiliation with the Second Medical Division of Bellevue Hospital and used direct measurements of body surface area to derive the equation now known as the Du Bois and Du Bois formula.
