Overview

William V. Dorwart was a clinical chemistry researcher at the William Pepper Laboratory, Division of Chemistry, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. With Leslie Chalmers, he published a 1975 Clinical Chemistry study comparing multiple methods for calculating serum osmolality from measured chemical concentrations. The study analyzed 715 hospital-patient serum samples and proposed an equation that closely matched measured osmolality.

Leslie Chalmers

Clinical chemistry

Leslie Chalmers was a clinical chemistry researcher at the William Pepper Laboratory, Division of Chemistry, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Chalmers co-authored the 1975 Clinical Chemistry paper with William V. Dorwart that compared 13 approaches to calculated serum osmolality and evaluated how closely calculated values agreed with measured osmolality.
